About Maribeth Theisen

Helping People Create Lasting Change for More Than 40 Years

Maribeth Theisen, MSW, LCSW, CCHt

My life’s work has been devoted to helping people discover that they are far greater than the challenges they face.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Educator, I have spent more than 45 years integrating psychotherapy with clinical hypnotherapy and other evidence-informed approaches that help people resolve the subconscious patterns underlying anxiety, trauma, limiting beliefs, relationship challenges, and emotional pain.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals from all walks of life—including local residents, CEOs, physicians, professional athletes, entertainers, and those seeking a private, personalized healing experience. Whether we meet online or on Maui, every client is treated with compassion, respect, and complete confidentiality.

I hold Master’s Degrees in Social Work and Counselor Education and have trained extensively with internationally recognized leaders in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), EMDR, regression therapy, Internal Family Systems (Parts Work), and other integrative approaches. My passion has always been to learn from the very best—and then translate that knowledge into practical tools that truly help people change their lives.

Teaching has been an important part of my professional journey. I have served as an instructor at the University of North Texas, the Hypnotherapy Academy of America, and founded the Hypnotherapy Institute of Maui through the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College. I continue to enjoy helping both clients and professionals understand the remarkable potential of the subconscious mind.

My Philosophy

Every person possesses an innate capacity for healing, growth, and transformation.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over the years is that awareness alone is rarely enough. Understanding why a problem exists does not necessarily resolve it.

Many emotional struggles arise from subconscious beliefs and protective patterns formed earlier in life. These patterns continue operating quietly in the background, influencing thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and even physical well-being.

My work focuses on gently identifying and resolving those underlying patterns so lasting change can occur—not simply managing symptoms. When the subconscious mind changes, our lives often change in ways that once seemed impossible.

Each of us possesses an inner wisdom that can guide healing, creativity, resilience, and spiritual growth. My role is to help you reconnect with that wisdom while providing practical tools that support meaningful and lasting transformation.

Living What I Teach

Perhaps the most important qualification I bring to my work is that I use the same tools I teach.

Like many people, my own life has included challenges that became opportunities for growth and transformation. Those experiences continue to deepen my compassion and strengthen my belief that meaningful change is possible at any stage of life.

Outside my practice, I enjoy traveling the world, sailing in Europe, kayaking with whales, scuba diving, hiking, photography, writing, music, and exploring new cultures. These experiences continually remind me that life is meant to be lived with curiosity, joy, and gratitude.

Helping others discover that same sense of freedom remains one of the greatest privileges of my life.
